Mark Bugembe, known as Buchaman, has voiced his frustration about being unable to meet President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. The singer and Presidential Advisor on Ghetto Affairs recently revealed in an interview with Sanyuka TV that he’s been blocked by people surrounding the president, hindering their communication.
“We are often blocked, but if Mzee wanted to see me, all it would take is a phone call,” Buchaman stated. He emphasized that his prolonged lack of contact with Museveni is not due to a lack of effort on his part but rather the interference of those around the president.
Buchaman also addressed a previous moment when he publicly considered leaving the National Resistance Movement (NRM) to join Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP). He clarified that this was not a serious intention to switch parties but a strong statement meant to draw attention. “There was a lot of pressure from the public,” he explained, “People had demands for things that Mzee promised during the campaigns.”
According to Buchaman, his outcry was a reaction to the public’s demands. “I was only letting them know that I had not been given anything,” he said, reflecting on the unmet expectations. Following his comments, Buchaman noted that President Museveni responded by meeting with ghetto youths at Kololo and distributing Shs1.2 billion.
Despite these actions, Buchaman’s frustration remains, particularly with the ongoing barriers to direct communication with Museveni. His statements suggest a deep concern for the promises made to ghetto youths, many of which he feels remain unfulfilled due to these blockages.
