Ugandan singer Jowy Landa has set a high bride price for her future husband. In a recent interview, she revealed that any man who wants to marry her must pay UGX 500 million to her mother. She made it clear that this financial requirement is more important to her than an extravagant wedding.
Jowy Landa stated that she prefers a simple court marriage instead of a big, flashy ceremony. “I don’t want a wedding,” she explained. “I want him to give my mum 500 million, and we just go to court and sign.” Her statement has sparked widespread debate among fans and social media users.
Despite sharing her expectations, Jowy emphasized that marriage is not in her immediate plans. She considers herself too young to settle down and wants to focus on her career first. “After signing, I will post him on social media like, ‘Yeah, this is my man.’ But that will be in about three years,” she added.
Her revelation has received mixed reactions from the public. Some fans support the decision of Jowy Landa, arguing that a bride price is a cultural norm in Uganda. Others, however, believe her demand is unrealistic and limits her chances of finding a genuine partner. Many questioned whether any man would be willing to meet such a high financial expectation just to marry her.
