Kendrick Lamar is set to headline the 2025 Super Bowl half-time show, the NFL and Apple Music confirmed on Sunday. Known for his thought-provoking lyrics and creative artistry, Lamar will make his second Super Bowl appearance, but this time as the main performer.
“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why,” Lamar stated, expressing his excitement for the upcoming performance. “They got the right one.”
The rapper first graced the Super Bowl stage in 2022, sharing the spotlight with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige. That performance won an Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special, highlighting its cultural significance. However, this year, Lamar will take center stage solo, adding another chapter to his impressive career.
Lamar’s rise to fame has been nothing short of extraordinary. In 2018, he became the first hip-hop artist to win the Pulitzer Prize for music, breaking barriers in the industry. “Kendrick continues to redefine hip-hop, crafting moments that resonate globally,” said Seth Dudowsky, the NFL’s Head of Music.

Recently, Lamar was involved in a public feud with fellow rapper Drake. The conflict sparked the release of several diss tracks, two of which—Future and Metro Boomin’s Like That and Lamar’s Not Like Us—became major hits.
Artists like Rihanna, Usher, and Beyoncé have also headlined the Super Bowl show, and Kendrick Lamar is now solidly in that legendary lineup. The Super Bowl remains the largest sporting event in the U.S., attracting tens of millions of viewers.
