Uganda is set to host American music legend Lionel Richie in June, as announced by Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Hon. Nobert Mao. The grand event in Gulu aims to raise climate change awareness and highlight the role individuals play in environmental destruction.
“Lionel Richie, the artist we grew up admiring, might make an appearance in Uganda this June,” Mao revealed.
Unlike typical shows, this concert will focus on educating the public about climate change. Hon. Mao emphasized that Richie and other artists will use their platform to highlight how human activities contribute to global warming and extreme weather conditions.
Beyond climate awareness, the concert aims to open doors for Ugandan traders and artists. International guests and investors will explore opportunities for local creatives to showcase their talent globally. Additionally, the event is expected to boost tourism, attracting thousands of international visitors eager to experience Uganda’s beauty.
With an anticipated crowd of over 250,000 attendees, this concert could be Northern Uganda’s biggest musical event ever. Music lovers, environmentalists, and business stakeholders eagerly await more details on what promises to be a historic gathering.
